Lines: 22 Hi, A friend of mine is experiencing strange behavior of his hard-disk in his Mac II. (This is an original Apple 40Meg HD.) After a relatively short period of use (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter), the machine reports a system-error (id 2 and 3), usually in response to some command (though not generally same command, and commands that have caused system error have been okay at other times) and at reboot it doesn't find the HD. If rebooted with a floppy, it still doesn't know about it (the HD, that is). After a few minutes (or not even that) of being switched off, it works ok for a while. We reinstalled the System, just in case, but it didn't work. (Anyway, since the HD disappears even when starting with a floppy, I didn't have any high hopes.) Is this common? Is it the HD? The machine hasn't been used for several months (hasn't been moved either) and was only used a total of maybe a few hours. Any ideas? Please email to me, gb bohus@math.rutgers.edu
