For example, as of about two years ago, when I was last buying a Mac, the cheapest way to get a Mac II that was available to me would have been to get the CPU box from Apple (I work for a developer, so could get developer prices), but to get the keyboard, monitor, and video card from Caltech (I knew students who would have been able to get me student prices). Sometimes even dealers have the best prices. I've seen one place selling the Mac Plus for less than developer prices. Tim Smith
