There are a lot of Sony drives out there and more companies are making them now. (At first all the drives were made by Ricoh and Sony, and other companies bought their drives from them and put their on name on them, VAR's) I don't think strong magnetic fields should have an effect on the disks. The disk has to be heated with a laser before the magnetic field is changed. -- Brent L.
