Keywords: 386 RTC Alarm Message-ID: <624@npdiss1.StPaul.NCR.COM> Date: 6 Oct 90 05:04:11 GMT Reply-To: chuck@npdiss1.StPaul.NCR.COM (Chuck Rissmeyer) Organization: NCR Comten, StPaul Lines: 15 I was told by the manufacturer of my 386 PC that my Real Time Clock Alarm function diagnostics failure is an invalid failure for AT types of PCs. He said that the XTs use it but not the ATs. When I switch my CPU down from 16 to 8 MHz, the alarm function tests pass. He said the reason it fails at 16MHz is that some bit got set somewhere, and it needs to be cleared. He doesn't know where the bit is though. Any alarm type of programs I run work. The real time clock chip is an MC146818P. Does anyone have a good explanation of what's going on? Thanks, Chuck - chuck@npdiss1.stpaul.ncr.com
