I received three responses, containing two recommendations of Procomm, and one each of Kermit and Telix. I have purchased Procomm and am initially pretty pleased. It lets you attach a command file to each dial-up number, to handle different protocols on the other end. Thanks for responses from: WLV.IMSD.CONTEL.COM!mcc (Merton Campbell Crockett) who recommended Kermit (available from watsun.cc.columbia.edu in source form; also from simtel20.wsmr.army.mil in an executable form packed im an archive) Bill Fischer who recommended "PROCOMM, excellent vt100 emulation and I've run it on a variety of platforms with no problem. Very nice, intuitive command structure too" Kees van der Wal who recommended Procomm plus (testdrive of demo version) and Telix. "They're similar in the user interface but Telix has Zmodem built in (while with PC+ you need DSZ as an external protocol). Both have a large number of up/download protocols (including Kermit)."
