PicLab is a nice PD utility which will do just about everything you could
want with pictures; it loads GIFs, Targa and other formats, converts to
24-bit color, rotates, rescales, clips, shows, overlays, averages,
brightens, darkens, and does other things to them, then saves as GIF or
Targa.  A very useful package, although it doesn't have an interactive
clipping function; you'll need something else for that.
