In this case you need to turn off the online compression of the T2500. You can do this by setting S96=0 (for MNP), S98=0 (for V.42) and S110=0 (for PEP). Usually, these registers are set by the UUCP dialers script when you dial out to another site. For UUCP dial-ins the remote site has to take care that compression is off.
