As many replies pointed out, Adobe Photoshop did the job very well. It is able to convert from a bunch of formats to a bunch of others including raw, PIXAR (picio), etc. (I remember these because they are the ones we needed). It also allows one to save the 3 channels (R, G, B or C, M, Y) separately, in any of the formats it supports. I found the program very useful.
