I been trying to follow this "Bruce stuff", but I have been unable
to figure out where to get the 386 protected mode stuff.

Could you please enlight us where one can find such stuff? 

I am at 1.3 and the path to 1.5.10 seem like a monumental task.

I wonder if those GNU guys are catching up with MINIX yet?
