Bruce volunteered his time to make the 386 kernel, and to the best of my knowledge is in no material way compensated for his work by Andy or PH. Save your harsh critisism for manufacturers to whom you pay for services, and instead thank Bruce for giving you such a nice toy. And offer to him your services towards making it a better toy.
