I have a question for anybody familar with ram expansion in Amigas.

I heard somewhere about simply using extra ram chips piggyback fashion, 
soldered one on top of the other (2 layers), to expand ram in an A1000.
I have an A500 and am curious if this technique will work on the trapdoor exp.
or on internal ram.
