The onboard 28-pin sockets can only support up to 256K worth of kickstart. To get 2.0 rom, you'll need to make you own decoding logics. > > On a related note, I have a friend that removed his daughter board, > (he is already running the kickstart eliminator). Doesn't he need to solder the buffer chips back on the mother board too... > > I hope Dave or someone else comments on your "unsupported" mod to the > A1000, as I am interested also in putting 1.3/2.0 proms in my A1000. > E-mail to Dave has met with silence on this subject, but then it is a Dave might be busy... I just got an email reply from him on similar topics. That took quite a while to get back. Well can't expect too much from someone that work all day and go home spend his spare time answering questions related to work... Can't really name someone else other than the CATS people as delicated... He must LOVE his work. (Should ask for overtime for this :) or may be C= should hire someone to answer questions on the network full time !! > machine no one uses - right! ------ May be to most others. Coming soon -- the 512K daughter board hack !! Have to wait until 2.0 official release to test it out and also some legal problems... Technically, it is very feasible to be able to load in 512K kickstart code from disk - the hardware hack is here and so is the new boot rom. All I need is time to test it out, doc it and work with C= for license/legal stuff. (Yeap if I can find in in my schedule between school, work and social life... Until 2.0 officially come out, I'll wait and see.) > > Monty Saine K. C. Lee Elec. Eng. Grad. Student
