Non-DMA (can get kit for DMA) |ZipChipGS+ - 8 MHz/16k cache. DMA compatible. |ZipGSX - 8 MHz (upto 12Mhz)/16k cache (to 64k). DMA compatible. | User Upgradeable | |SGR price: 250,300,350 | |Kits: | |DMA compatibility for ZipChipGS |10/12 MHz speed upgrades for ZipGSX |32k cache kits for ZipGSX | |I supposed the most powerful FULLY WARRANTIED ZipGS you could initially buy |would be a ZipGSX with 12 MHz speed upgrade and 2 32k cache upgrades (64k) | |this would set you back about 600 bucks full retail. | |The ZipChipGS Plus and the ZipGSX differ in that the the ZipChipGS Plus is a |closed architechure machine while the the ZipGSX can be upgraded in speed and |in cache size. | |The ZipChipGS Plus is DMA compatible, offers a place to stow your 816, has |diagnostic LEDs, runs at 8 MHz and has 16k of cache memory. Period. That is |the product. | |The ZipGSX is DMA compatible, offers a place to stow your 816, has diagnositic |LEDs, runs at 8 MHz and has 16k of cache. It also has an area to place a |voltage regulator (warranty voiding). It also allows the use of upgrade kits |(thru Zip Tech) to attain higher speeds and larger cache sizes (you can obtain |the parts yourself but you void the warranty). | |There is the dif. The Zipper. IS THIS GREAT OR WHAT!!!!! Oh, I probablely should've ask permission to quote the Zipper, but I don't think he'll mind. He also mentioned that the proto-type 6.25Mhz outran the TWGS. I think it was because the ZIP had more cache RAM than the TWGS. At 8Mhz it KICKS. Also, remeber how well the TWGS handled it self agaist the Mac SE (7.8Mhz)... well that this goes without saying ZIP does better. Roger Coat sells at three models. The slot based, highe-end unit is $269, less than the TWGS. Now, all we need is some VRAMs to break the 1Mhz video barrier and the GS could some very good animation/graphics. I'm ordering mine soon as I have enough money.
