I'm really into exploring what the GS can do with GIFs. 

Most of the time, the gifs I get off the net are 640x480 and
SHRconvert truncates them and puts them in B&W 640x200 mode. 
I am interested in eventually getting a startup screen or a desktop
pic out of one. Are there any steps that can be taken to twist GIFs
around until they are good quality Apple pics? Or does one have to
bite the bullet and change them by hand in a paint program (yech!)
