Intelligent Twist Software 250 Harding Blvd. PO BOX 32017 Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada, L4C 9M7 _____________ With the release of ProLine v1.6, a new option was included, making the software much more powerful than ever before (and they said it couldn't be done). This came in the form of several UNIX shell scripts, which, among other things, emulated the MDSS protocol commonly used by ProLine to exchange news/mail across the ProLine network. These scripts, which need NO maintenance at all, once installed (which is a very easy task), enable ProLine sites to poll a UNIX site, with each machine treating the other, as one of it's own type. The advantages of this, are extremely versatile and numerous. Not only does this provide swift mail turn around time, and access to the most popular computer network on earth, but it also saves money on long distance bills, which had to be paid to connect to another ProLine site out of town, despite the fact that there was a UNIX site "next door". The minimal Shareware fee, will pay itself back in saved long distance charges over and over. However, ProLine is not the only software that can take advantage of these powerful scripts. Hobbyists who wish to create their own site (I did, aunix.uucp, created from scratch, uses MDSS, and is connected to several UNIX and XENIX sites), or already have, and wish to interface it with the world, these scripts are ideal for compatibility. Students on campus, who don't want to be bothered with the snail-pace of computing, when several hundred others, are using the same network, can use their personal computer to their advantage. Dialing in to the machine when the time is right, and retrieve mail/news, to be read, and replied to, in their own time, on their machine, is a perfect solution. There are MANY more applications, which are most likely waiting to be discovered by you. There are several ways to obtain these scripts; - Contact myself, at any of the following addresses: root@aunix.uucp [Subject line must read "Scripts"] marekp@{contact|generic|pnet91|torag|bkj386}.uucp And request the scripts. Make sure to specify "UNIX uuencoded/compressed/tarred" format, or "BINSCII/ShrinkIt" format. These might be available by FTP as well, however, they are not, at this time. - Obtain a copy of ProLine v1.6 from the Morgan Davis Group. The address and numbers to call or write to, for more information, are: Morgan Davis Group 10079 Nuerto Lane Rancho San Diego, CA 92078-1736 Office: 619/670-0563 FAX: 619/670-9643 BBS: 619/670-5379 - Or, you can obtain it from your local (or not so local) Apple software distributors. - Mail a self-stamped, self-addressed envelope, containing a 5 1/4" FLOPPY disk, and a little note to request one of the above formats for the package. The floppy will be formatted as an Apple ProDOS volume. If you don't include the correct postage, I get to keep the disk, so you have been warned. The address is: Attn: Marek Pawlowski Intelligent Twist Software 250 Harding Blvd. PO BOX 32017 Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada, L4C 9M7 - Or, you can call me, and we can arrange a transfer.
