(Advice request.) Message-ID: <17905@oolong.la.locus.com> Date: 5 Oct 90 02:27:53 GMT Sender: news@locus.com Organization: Locus Computing Corporation, Inglewood, CA Lines: 26 I currently am a satisfied owner of a 520st, 1Mb, Megafile 30 with a Spectre GCR. I now would like to get more utility then my current set up provides. I have thought of 4 options: 1) Buy a Mac IIc?. Ever since getting the Spectre, I've been considering buying a MAc II. They are nifty machines but priced outside of what are could reasonably afford for my hobby machine. 2) Buy a PC clone. For $1500 I can get a 80386sx with Super VGA and 65 MB HD. My far the best bang for the buck. However as the old saying goes: Friends don't let friends use DOS! 3) Upgrade my current machine. The local outfit will upgrade to 4MB for $450 and and another $300 for an accelerator. 4) Junk my current cpu and replace with a 1040 STE. My uses for this machine include Word processing, DTP, record keeping, games and programming (C & C++). Opinions, comments and other alternatives are welcome. Thanks, Robert Lee robertl@locus.com
