The 15th anniversary issue of BYTE magazine has a column on one of these floptical drive. And it costs about US$900 for a 20 MB drive which doesn't read normal floppy and the special 3-1/2" floppy costs about US$25 each. For this money, I would rather buy a SyQuest 44 MB 5-1/4" catridges which is hard disk speed and cost competitive up to about 300 MB with the floptical. ...
