You've got the right idea. _First_ save it as RTF, then do a s&r on the codes
to change them to Word's, then save and open and interpret. You'll have
to create a simple test file to find out what they are. I think {\i  }
or something like that.

If only a few words are "italicized", then for each just type it, italicize 
it, and copy to the clipboard. Then use ^c in the change box, and Word
will paste the clipboard to change.
