The ability of equation packages to dump the result in TeX format is an excellent feature. However, it should be noted that this will not buy the user the full power of TeX. Although for the vast majority of cases it will be more than adequate (as is my Auto-Focus Auto-Exposure Auto-Advance Camera) there are still times when special constructs or macros from TeX are extremely useful (and periodically I turn off all the automatic features of my camera as well, except for Auto-Advance which is, unfortunately, built in). It sure sounds like I need to find one of these equation packages. However, I am sure that the need to write TeX equations will not be completely eliminated. Hopefully someday they will be... About the time that computers can write the paper too... -- Kevin
