On reading that HP had finally announced a water-proof/resistant ink
cartridge for the DeskWriter, I ran right out and bought one a week ago.
The new ink was due out in December, according to the press release, but
I needed to get a spare cartridge now. A call to HP Peripheral Support
indicated that they had already already started shipping, but good luck
finding the 1 dealer in 100 who had them in stock...

After 5 or 6 tries to 800 numbers, I found a dealer with the new ink. It took
a week to get here (UPS ground), but it was worth the wait! A damp/moist
finger does not disturb the ink; a WET finger barely makes a smudge even when 
pressed hard!

Mac Depot in LA has them: (800) 222-2808. $15 with free UPS shipping.

P.S. This printer is RECOMMENDED! With KiwiEnvelopes, it is far and away the
best all-around printer setup I've ever used.
