On a related note, our MS Word 4.0 always starts up in "Show Codes" mode, 
where all the spaces are dots and all the paragraphs end with (what else?)
paragraph markers.

This confuses some of the people here.  I've tried turning it off, then
doing "Edit... Preferences... OK", but that doesn't seem to save it.  Any
ideas?
