May want to try booting from floppy, delete your old System file, and re-install it. If that doesn't help, I might suspect your video hardware. I'm having some trouble myself - the left half of my screen looks slightly darker than the right half. I'm using a Sony 1304 monitor - I hooked up my Mac to another Sony monitor and got the same thing. Do Sonys just have the left side of the screen darker than the other? I also bought two different cables from two different stores - and I still have the problem with either of them.
