   We have a 210VGX and a sun file server and we send PostScript
files from our SGI to the Sun with no problem.  The key is to use
the berkley print spooler system.  You have to set it up manually.
The SGI graphic utilities don't support the Berkley spooler.
I didn't set things up, but one file to change is /etc/printcap.
