I am contemplating installing 4.1 on an SS-1 and an SLC that I am responsible for, so I am mainly interested on the effects on the programming and sysadmin-ing environment. Overall, I am quite happy with 4.0.3, but I've heard that 4.1 is considerably faster. What I'd like to know is things like: o Is it stable? o Does it break you existing X11R4, Cnews, MMDF environment? o Any unusual problems? o Should I wait for 4.1.1 or something? o How much better/faster is it? o What good/useful new features are there? Please mail me directly, and I will summarise to this group if there is sufficient interest. Alan Judge ajudge@maths.tcd.ie a.k.a. amjudge@cs.tcd.ie +353-1-772941 x1782
