Since I'm not really in a mood to experiment I thought I'd ask you guys. . .

I don't like using crontab(1) to modify the various crontabs on the system.
Is it possible to edit the /usr/spool/cron/crontabs/* files directly and
then just send a signal to cron(1) to make it re-read the files?
