Sorry to have to post this, but I've tried several e-mail messages along a
variety of paths and they keep getting bounced back.  Regarding my problem
with allocating a read/write color cell,  I had to lay off the problem for
a couple of days and do some "real" work, but when I came back to it, I
tired your suggestion about setting the color to something other than black.
The area still came out balck so I used a debugger and dug around in by code
and found the problem.  It was "cockpit" trouble as I had anticipated.

Thanks for the suggestion and taking the time to respond to my posting.
I apologize for taking so long to respond back to you.  I also apologize to
the group for using the bandwidth, but I can't seem to get e-mail to work.
