Huntsville, AL Lines: 40 We would like to export the PC capabilities for Microsoft Windows Release 3.0 to X-Windows. The Microsoft Development Toolkits allow one to write device drivers that capture mouse, keyboard, and display conversations. The intent was to support vendor specific hardware devices without burdening the applications developers. The hardware vendor would supply a device driver for his hardware and the applications would be unaffected. If the mismatch between the conversations to the device driver and X Calls is not prohibitive, it seems that one could write device drivers and end up with PC windows under X. Has anyone investigated such an approach, and if so what were the findings. Possibly, one of the Microsoft Windows competitors (DESQview, Omniview 386, VM/386 MultiTasker, or Vmos/3) has been addressed instead or as well. James O.
