No, the Arkenstone will not work with an XT style machine. Upgrading the motherboard won't help either since it needs an AT style bus. The Kurzweil PC/KPR will work with an XT however, but it's minimum configuration is $3695 while the minimum configuration from Arkenstone is $2495. These two configurations are quite different it should be noted, you're getting less with the minimum from Arkenstone. The configuration from Arkenstone equivalent to the minimum from Kurzweil is more ($3995). Hope this helps.
