Almost everyone that I have encountered at VA hospitals has just the same attitude as you have. They are overloaded with work, which means you have to do a lot of waiting. But I never fail to get the impression that they really care. I have heard "horror stories" of exceptions, and don't doubt that they exist. But they are exceptions, not the rule. I truly believe I've seen more caring in VA hospitals than in general public hospitals.
