please pardon my breaking into the *real* discussions <|-) 
to ask for some much-needed advice.

i'm just starting out in studying electronics, and am 
having some real trouble with the textbook our class 
is using, Grob's Basic Electronics.

does anyone have suggestions for more comprehensive/accessible
beginning texts or other instructional materials that might
complement my studies?  is the tandy/TI series helpful
and/or credible?  the more populist the better... :^]
