Why can't they use the remaining >space on the previous disk first? I use PC-Tools (5.1 installed, 6.0 lying around waiting for installation). The version 6.0 manauls says that you can use a previously used disk for incremental backup, i.e. you can append incremental backups on floppies. The version 5.1 backup was very fast on my system (12 Mhz 286). It took less time to write data to the floppy than to format it. There was a comparison of backup programs some time ago in a german computer magazine and while PC-tools was not the best in all categories, like speed and compression, it was just a few percents difference between it and the better one (I can't remember which one). But the difference in price was about a factor of 4 or 5 (in germany / switzerland), so I bought PC-Tools 5.1 (for home usage) and upgraded to 6.0, lately. The other backup tools were worse more than just a few percents from these two leading products and costs more than PC-tools. In addition you will get some other tools which I am almost not using. (With DOS and my system I like to use the commandline interface - If I had a 386 or 486 I would use UNIX and X, but that's a totally different topic). >Thanks in advance, Hope it helps, Norbert Bladt. -- Please use this path as return address.
