Consider it confirmed.  According to USR, after installing this software,
your machine will be able to talk to another Xenix machine running this
"IX" software - but will no longer be able to communicate with machines
running normal UUCP "g" protocol.  This information was verified by
one of USR's (actually the "IX" product was developed by a third company)
beta testers..

The PEP is still the best modem for UUCP.
