On the subject of vanity numbers--

A friend of mine's (who reads the net, does he read c.d.t?) father
told the phone company that he wanted an easy phone number to remember
because he had 'retarded children at home' and so he got a number of
the form:

ABB-BBAA for what was reported to be 'no extra charge.'

I don't believe my friend or any of his siblings are retarded, but my
friend and I have done some pretty stupid things together :-)
