ANSI X3J14 November 6-10, 1990 Meeting Information

Meeting Site:

The meeting will be held in Conference Room A of the Manufacturing Development
Center (MDC), Ford Motor Company, 24500 Glendale Avenue, Redford Township,
Michigan.  Secure storage for computer gear will be available.

Lodging:

A block of rooms has been reserved in the name of ANS X3J14 at the Holiday
Inn, Livonia at a rate of $39.00 per night.  The Inn is at 30375 Plymouth
Road, Livonia.  (Do not confuse it with the Holiday Inn West).  Their local
phone number is (313) 261-6800.  It is 3.7 miles from MDC.  There are a movie
theatre, shopping mall, and restaurants within a block of the motel.

The Travelers Motor Inn, 9939 Telegraph Road, Detroit, Michigan (313) 533-9900
is AAA approved.  It offers two (2) single units at $29.95 per night (reserve
early!).  It has doubles at $32.95.  It is 1.6 miles from MDC.

For those with a taste (and wallet) for good living, we recommend:

These are all about 8 miles (15 minutes on the freeways) from MDC. Rates are
in the neighborhood of $80 (check them for exact quotes).

Transportation:

Fly into Detroit Metro airport.  In the Detroit area, public transportation
(buses etc.) is effectively non-existent (we ain't Motor City for nothin). 
Plan on using your own or rented wheels or Taxis.  All major car rental
agencies are represented at Detroit Metro, including:

To get to MDC from the airport:

Go east (toward Detroit) about three miles on I-94.  Get off at the Telegraph
(north) exit.  This exit is on the LEFT side of the freeway.  Go north eight
miles to Glendale Avenue and turn left. MDC is about half a mile on the left.

To get to the Holiday Inn from the airport:

Follow signs directing you to Middlebelt Road.  Go north (left turn onto
Middlebelt) eight miles to Plymouth Road.  Turn left onto Plymouth Road.  The
Inn is on the left about half a block down.

To get to MDC from the Holiday Inn:

Go east on Plymouth Road two miles and turn left (north) onto Beech- Daley. 
Go north about .6 miles (just past the railroad viaduct) and turn right (east)
onto Glendale Avenue.  MDC is about half a mile down on the right, just past
Flint Ink.

If there is sufficient interest (contact Len Zettel if interested) we may be
able to arrange transportation to and from the Inn once each way each day.
