Early IIGSes had a version that had some visible display anomalies, I think particularly in 640 composite mode. The way to tell whether or not an upgrade is advisable is to check your serial number, and if it's less than a certain value (which I don't happen to have at hand), your computer has the old VGC (unless it has already been upgraded). A competent dealer would have checked this when they installed your ROM 01 upgrade, but then many Apple dealers seem to be less than competent.
