I'm under the impression that they uses special proprietary controller. And is quite expensive. Personally, I go with SyQuest 555 removable hard drive. 44 MB catridge (actually more like 42 MB) in 5-1/4 inch format (about 1/2 inch thick). Uses standard SCSI interface (as far as I can tell -- worked with Adaptec 1542A and Always IN-2000). Runs pretty decent, 29 ms ave. seek time and 500Kbyte/sec transfer rate with IN-2000. Pretty cheap compared to Bernoulli. The drive with one catridge is around $500+ (cf. Bernoulli's ~$1000, unless price changes a lot lately). One catridge is $79 from Hard Drive International. Never have problem with it. By the way, I did tried backup with FASTBACK using the SyQuest as the backup media. Have to go through standard DOS device and write a file to the SyQuest. Backup speed is not incredible but reasonably fast. Probably on par with a streaming tape. Now, since it uses SCSI, you can also plug SCSI hard disk onto the same one adapter. Just speaking as a satisfied customer. Regards, ## Life is fast enough as it is ........ Peter Lim. ## ....
