High res support means it will be able to receive and transmit 300dpi
pages as opposed to 150dpi. So if you receive a page of fine text transmitted 
at high-res from the other side, with a low-res fax,
you may only see it in a grainy mode and
be able to print it out like that only even if you have a 300dpi laser
printer. 

I just found the perfect low-price fax card for $130 I got the
Micromatics fax card with highres and all features of most low-priced (300$)
fax cards. It works well. If you need one or more mail me and I;ll put
you in touch with the seller. The manufactureer is a co. in Fremont, CA
