Message-ID: <1990Oct16.015601.14497@ccu.umanitoba.ca> Date: 16 Oct 90 01:56:01 GMT Organization: University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada Lines: 13 I have a Toshiba MK234FC 100 Meg IDE hard drive in my 386-25 system. About 5 times a week or so when I'm accessing the drive, the drive will physically spin down and stop! Then spin back up right away again. It seems to do it the most when a lot of disk access is going on. I called Toshiba about it, and they thought it was a problem with the host adapter and not the drive. From the way I understood his explantion, there is one line from the host adapter to the drive that handles the interupts. If there are a lot of interupts on this line at one time, the host adapter could be getting confused and doing some sort of reset to clear things up. Has anyone else experienced any of these problems with IDE drives? The host adapter is made by TMC Research and has a 4 floppy controller as well. Charles
