  Let's see if I got this straight...  You're asking that if you disabled
your menu, and the system enables the Edit menu to support TextEdit fields,
will it disable them again upon leaving ModalDialog, right?  Yes, this is true.

  Alas, just Cut, Copy, and Paste.

  I haven't seen an application that doesn't have command key equivalents
in a long time, so I don't know what happens in this case.
