We have a CDC4330 (RC3230 Magnum) with EP/IX 1.2.1 (based on RISCOS 4.50). NIS (formerly YP) refuses to work correctly. We have setup the CD4330 as a YP client. Our YP-server is on a PCS Cadmus (the server works, sure!). ypbind on the CD4330 seems to work, ypwhich tells me the correct server, ypmatch works also (but very slow). A YP-userid can login if in nis precedes files in vis.conf, but all other utilities (ls, ps, finger etc.) don't look into nis. If i remove /etc/ps_data then ps hangs forever. If files precedes nis in /etc/vis.conf as mentioned in the EP/IX release notes, then nis is never consulted, even if the correct escapes are in /etc/passwd and /etc/group !! Are there any suggestions? Is this a bug in RISCOS4.50 or is it a EP/IX bug? Are there any other EP/IX users with YP/NIS out there?
