C). It appears to work just fine with the COM ports on my I/O board which uses 82450 chips (this is not a multiport board, just a vanilla AT I/O board). However, it does not work with my Everex Evercom 2400 internal modem. An error code of '6' is returned for COM1 (the modem) during the boot process, while '*'s are returned for COM2 and COM3. I looked at the source and found that error code 6 indicates a problem with the modem control stuff. The only 40 pin chip on the modem that looks like the 82450's on the I/O card is labeled 10464-15 Mexico FI 8717 2067 and has a Rockwell logo on it. Is this a UART that is compatible with the 82450 or 16450/16550? For the time being I am using the regular asy driver for COM1 and FAS for COM2 and COM3. Has anyone seen this sort of thing before? Any ideas? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonathan R.
