As far as I understand, correct me if I am wrong, current software out there only allows you to use your pc as a X terminal. Software such as stuff from Hummingbird, Locus, etc... But, there is no software available TODAY that allows you to run X Windows stand alone on a pc. You have to have a network connection to some system running X. In other words, I can't deliver my X windows based applications to people who just have pc's without network connections. I assume all the talk about DESQview concerns the idea of being able to run X windows based applications stand alone on a pc without a network connection. Hopefully, this will clarify the discussion about running X windows on your pc.
