When I use GNU emacs (version 18.55.1 oct-7-1989) in a window on my digital 
workstation, the application keypad stays in numeric mode.  If I enter 
edt-emulation mode the application keypad still stays in numeric mode.
The mouse works in both cases.
If I enter unsetenv DISPLAY then enter emacs the application keypad will work 
but the mouse will not work.
I usually bring up emacs from a menu. The problem occurs in Motif and 
in Open Look.  

Does anyone how I can use the application keypad and the mouse at the same time?
