Consumer Reports had an evaluation of private (i.e. not group) health insurance plans within the last few months. But the big question is, isn't the father obligated to pay those bills? I do not know the legal circumstances of your case, but that seems the most logical. If you cannot enforce it and have no money for a lawyer, how about Legal Aid or some group that exists to help single women?
