Please forgive me for posting this note to the newsgroup -- but I have been
forever unsuccessfully trying to email to .uucp addresses without any luck.

I am a biologist and not a computer scientist.  I have a generic 80386/387
box running SCO UNIX SYSTEM V Version 3.2.0 with maintenance patches A & B
installed.  I just barely managed to compile GNU emacs as a sysv5-3 by the
simple trick of replacing every reference to CC with rcc.  However, I have
not had such simple luck with gcc and x window system code.  Perhaps you
could email to me or repost or point me/us to an archive containing your
previous postings for updating gcc.
