I would not run in autobaud with a getty on the SIO port. Also, don't use a rotary on your getty. This may be part of the problem. I have not had much success getting a dial-in/out SIO port to work on a Sun3 with SunOS 4.0.3c. A getty battle usually occurs which sets of the modem into a catatonic state or permissions/ ownership of the port device changes, sending the system into a LCK state. For the best performance, I am after trying this application with a KNOWN GOOD uugetty which will run in SunOS.
