It has been quite a while since I posted to this newsgroup. At that time, I was with TELEBIT Corporation as their UNIX Communications Specialist. I am now with Los Altos Networks, a TELEBIT and AT&T distributor. My capacity is one of sales, although I plan to stay active in technical issues such as those discussed in this newsgroup. TELEBIT Technical Support is now providing e-mail support of modem products. Those of you familiar with TELEBIT Technical Support via phone support are quite aware of their UNIX data comm. expertise. I am hopeful that you will receive the answers that you seek, although for safety's sake I would recommend that you call, as well as e-mail TELEBIT Tech Support AND your systems or software manufacturer, someone's bound to get back to you. This is because the non-UNIX user who is responding to e-mail may not know how to deal with any "bounced" messages nor how to resolve common Internet domain addressing schemes (bang paths don't stand much of a chance either, if the Sun mailer can't automatically do the return path...). It will also be a VERY long time, I believe, before TELEBIT will be reading this newsgroup and posting "officially". Due to departmental control of resources, I had been trying to get MIS to fix Pnews and other netnews problems, but they kept slipping in the MIS queue and I was not able to gain access to the system to do these fixes. Netnews has now slipped into a bottomless queue priority level. These insights and warnings are provided as a service to the many TELEBIT modem users in this forum. I apologize for the flame-like tone of this posting. I would like to clarify the events leading to my leaving TELEBIT. This is due to the numerous e-mail messages, telephone messages, and trade show meetings I have had with TELEBIT users in search of UNIX data comm related support. According to these users, and friends, TELEBIT Corporation has been implying that I left the company of my own accord. The truth is that I did not have much of a choice. On Wednesday, September 19, 1990, I and 22 other TELEBIT employees were laid-off. Every department at TELEBIT was cut in a very political "blood-letting". I did not read the company line in the local papers, all I know that the company needed to show money. I am quite sore at TELEBIT for implying that I abandoned my support position with them. After almost two and a half years of support services, their treatment was quite a let down. If I can be of any assistance to any TELEBIT or UNIX data comm users in this newsgroup, please do not hesitate to e-mail or post. Thank you. =============================================================================== Cerafin E.
