Can anyone tell me about copyrighting my software?  What about 
trade-secrects and the such?

Also, with a vast amount of computerized databases and searches at my 
disposal, can anyone tell me how to do a name search without hiring a 
lawyer?  I don't want to get sued, but I have low budgets.
