Yes, I believe that IS valid sytanx, and logic.
The calling statement, sends those two variables
to the two receiving variables. This is useful
if your subroutine needs seperate variables with
the same value, but with different variables
names (instead of equating them in the subroutine).

This could also be effected with a common block.
