I have checked locally, ==> and, while all the stores sell PS fonts, they claim they will not ==> work with Unix systems. ("Yes Sir. Would you like that for the Mac ==> or for the PC?") ==> ==> 1. Is this true? No, that is not true. I'm running Eroff 2.2 on SCO Xenix on a 386. I just installed Adobe's Berkeley Oldstyle (the PC version) and it prints fine from Eroff. I just followed the instructions in the Eroff manual. You need the .pfb font file and the .afm font metrics file from the font floppies. Getting them from the DOS floppies to the Unix machine is your problem, and may be the source of the misinformation above. I just used the doscp command, while the Eroff manual suggests Kermit. ==> 2. Where can I buy fonts? Wherever Adobe fonts for the PCs are sold. ==> 3. I am specifically looking for some fonts for our user manual. We ==> are using the Courier constant width font, and would like to ==> get the same in bold, underlined, reversed, etc. Also, we need ==> some compatible box drawing characters so we can print the VT100 ==> line graphics. Courier already comes in bold. We do short underlines with troff macros. For reverse courier we created a Postscript font from courier and added it to the Eroff Postscript prolog. I can send you details if you email me. Never tried the box drawing characters. bobs Bob Stayton 425 Encinal Street Technical Publications Santa Cruz, CA 95060 The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc.
